Teaser posters for Missing (including E4 logo)

 

 

Teaser posters created for the TV show Missing, the missing poster prop was created by myself in Microsoft word and is one of many copies made (and distressed with dirt and water) for the project.

The 'I KNOW' letter was also created by me with newspaper lettering, the 2nd and 3rd photos, (with more editing changes) are the final ones I will submit however the first one will either be re-shot or edited to fit the programme better or be less obvious to the audience.

Inspiration for these shots was taken for the ad campaign for the E4 show Glue, as I chose the look at this show in particular is thought it was fitting to observe the Glue teaser posters as well as the shows title sequence for their first (opening) episode as that is the other part of the brief my partner (http://rabiaahmed1997.blogspot.co.uk/) and I chose to complete.

This logo was created using a guide made by E4 that includes templates of the elements used to create similar logos (creating the E4 identity) as well as information/examples into what is considered a conventional E4 logo.

Programme advertisement (print no.2) for Glue

This is the second print teaser poster I found for the E4 drama Glue, I have chosen these as inspiration for my print work as I had initially reviewed the programme and observed its demographic.

This first advert/print is for Glue, as I reviewed the TV advertisement I decided to look at the prints that went along with it. This print is a really high quality photo and at first glance can be passed off as ordinary except when you look in-depth into it you can see the lady birds and the blood drop (personally I didn’t notice the blood at first and passed it off as a part of the plant). The blood can give off the crime drama as it can imply someone has been killed, with this in mind the viewer can speculate that the out of focus image in the background is in fact a murdered victim. I like this print as it of a very high quality and can represent an idyllic scene however when you look more in-depth into it by putting two and two together you can assume the blood and body are linked and the programme is about a murder(ers)

Font- Forque

This is the logo I created for Silver Lining productions, from my logo research I decided that like BBC 3 I’d like to use an acronym and be fairly simple. I shortened down the full title to SLiP. Also due to me wanting to have a crime drama I thought that the black silhouettes with light bulbs for brains would imply a whodunit/mystery genre. The black silhouettes are mysterious as they don’t full illustrate what the person looks like as well as the light bulb representing an idea or mystery that needs to be solved. Hopefully this can present Silver Lining productions as being in the crime genre. I chose the colour pallet of red and black for a couple of reasons, one being that it stands out on the black, and the other being; red can represent blood and danger, which is fitting for a crime drama, also I created the two logos featured on a transparent background to not impair the image.

The main logo (the first one) is the productions main logo which represents the company however the singular one (just featuring a simple silhouette and the acronym) would be used similarly to comedy central as they have a simpler logo in the corner of a TV show to still represent the company yet it wouldn’t impair the image or show by not covering much up - hence the transparent back ground.

Glue: TV advertisement

Through looking at TV advertisement scenes for shows, I have decide I would like to take the second option of my brief and create a 2 minute moving image suitable for marketing.
Also, leading on from past research I decided to review the advertisement for Glue. I personally was intrigued by the few advertisements and prints that where published before the show came out. Being a fan of the crime/mystery genre, I thought this advert used great in depth cut scenes that where highly detailed to create an atmosphere of mystery, as it also resisted from giving too much of the programme away. Without knowing the back story of the programme, by the end of the advertisement you get an idea of  what its about; the crime genre can be easily presented by; the shots of the bloody hand, crumpled up newspaper reading 'murder' and the final shot of the police officer at a crime scene- also we can assume that the guy running through the fields would be a victim as due to his facial expressions and frantic running could imply he's trying to escape.

Following on from the research into E4s demographic it appears that many of the programmes featured on E4 are in the comedy genre are have comedy aspects like 'My mad fat diary' and 'Some girls'.

These are fictional programmes that present fictional characters that are realistic enough to be believable and often feature them in real life situations or present the complete opposite and have characters in made up situations to add effect, in this genre a comedic effect could be created or a dramatic effect in a drama.

This channel also features reality programmes such as Made in Chelsea. Reality programmes generally portray, through film, real life people in real life situations to create a sense of empathy with the people 'characters' shown. It is often entertaining to see how other people live and react to certain things, so promising the view of different life styles can entice a viewer to watch as show.

My film clip genre

The main genre(s) I'd like to create is a crime drama, to make this drama appeal more to the audience of 15-35 I could create a drama featuring a mid range of 20-somthing year olds (to focus on the youg adult age barcket). An example that I am going to review is the show 'Glue' it was premiered on E4, In particular I am going to focus on the TV advertisements. I personally was enticed into watching Glue as I felt the adverts for it looked quite promising as it looked as if it featured fairly relatable characters who were all within the age bracket of the demographic the channel aims for.

Another genre I'd like to feature in my 2 minute film clip would be comedy, l am a fan of this genre and have watched many comedic programmes over the years like 'The big bang theory' and 'friends'. I am also aware that comedy is difficult to write and everyone’s sense of humour is different therefore  my solution ( if I choose to add comedy aspects) would be to interject hints of it into my film clip, this could be achieved by contrasting serious, intimidating moments with comedy to create an enjoyable show to watch. A popular example that contrasts serious moments with humour is 'Sherlock' this programme is featured on BBC however it takes in a large audience (of all ages, including the 15-35 demographic)

Another idea that mainly focuses of the comedy genre and provides a spoof of a crime drama would be the film 'Clue', this is one of my favourite films as it spoofs the crime drama, by creating funny memorable characters and a somewhat silly plot. I could take ideas from this film of using spoof aspects as they can create a funny twist on a crime drama, yet I could tone it down and make the film clip still seem dramatic.
If I am able to interject comedy into my film clip I'd very much like to use it however, as previously mentioned, it can be difficult as humour varies from viewer to viewer. Overall I'd like to focus on the crime/mystery genre.
